Hi Everyone,

I've just had a look at Jess' latest post and it looks like she's quite the fixer-upper and has done so well to get Ella's Pink Lady shipshape for the last and exciting leg of this incredible adventure.

It looks like all of us Jessaholic landlubbers have been busy as well - getting to know each other and celebrating Jessica's adventure by meeting for lunches and dinners. This is number two luncheon for the Vics and although, much to my regret, I was unable to make it, I was thrilled to see that the Vics have grown in numbers.

Back west, Sam organised dinner for Jessaholics in the Perth area and they look like they had a ton of fun !

Here are pictures of the two groups.

Vics Luncheon Picture 1 : L-R Chris and Sally by the Bay, Bruce, Ailsa, Faye, Tony L, Max, Peter, Collette and Clint.
Vics Luncheon Picture 2 : Jessica's crew

WA Dinner Picture 1 : L-R Tony, Sam, Jo and Paul.

Good luck everyone.

Cheers
Jonathan

  1. Hi Jonathan
Thank you for posting up the photos of the Jesse catch ups in WA and VIC.They look great!<('v')>
We missed you at the Melbourne lunch but understand you had a busy weekend.Hope to catch up with you some time soon.It was lovely to share a meal and spend the afternoon hearing more about the friends we feel we have come to know through Jesse's Journey.A special high point was being able to hold "baby" EPL and talk with Tony about his model. We will all have our special memories of this amazing opportunity we have had to share Jessica's "Dream".
Thank you Collette for tracking me down and organising the lovely venue.(Minus rain and hail this time)

  2. Hi everyone,

Jonathan, thank you for posting the pictures of the latest Jessaholic gatherings. And thank you for providing your blog for all of us. For those of us who are a bit too far away to attend the gatherings in Australia, it’s been a lot of fun to follow along with all of you via the internet. For you sports fans, Ryan Rowland-Smith (born in Sydney, grew up in Newcastle) pitched a great game in the Seattle Mariners' win over the Detroit Tigers yesterday. That’s baseball, not cricket.:-)) Ryan is one of the more popular players with the Seattle Mariners fans. And Samantha Stosur from Brisbane won her semi-final tennis match in the Family Circle Cup yesterday and will play Russian Zera Zvonareva for the championship today in South Carolina, USA today.

    Have a great day everyone…..

    Hi all you Jess-a-holics,
It was great to see all you guys gathered together and having a good
time. Thanks for the pictures, they are great, it helps ease the pain of me not being there…lol… But I am glad that you all got together and enjoyed yourselves. There are many faces missing who also regret not being there. So maybe at another time there’ll be another luncheon and the long distance travelers can make it. I’m gathering all of these pictures and hopefully putting them into a scrapbook.

    Cheers to all,
    Michael

  4. A Cheery hello to everyone,

Thanks so much Jonathan for posting these memoirs, we sure missed your presence at our get-together. Again we had a fantastic day with the most magnificent weather, venue, food, company and conversation.

My sincere thanks go to all my 'Jesse-pals', it is my privellage to have spent such a wonderful day with you, and thankyou again for taking the time to join us.

Golly golly golly golly...is it not getting exciting now ?? Sydney, boat, entourage, media....look how far little Jesse has brought us !

It seems we're all going to get our own 15 seconds of fame!! The emails going back and forth are both exciting and overwhelming but I wouldn't swap it for quids.

Michael, SaltyDog (BTW, spunk hehehe, thanks for the pic), Janell, Carol and all our Jesse-pals in the good ol' USofA (and the world), we feel for you being so far away from the action, but between us I can promise we will share whatever we can, hopefully filling the void somewhat.

    Have a lovely day everyone,
    Collette

  5. Wonderful pics! What a gorgeous mob you all
are! :) Thanks, Jonathan for the posting of the pics, much appreciated. Glad a good time was had by all.

@ Mark, the Mariner's are our team!!We attended a game during our trip up/over in 2006 and decided we'd be Mariner's supporters. Have the T-shirts, caps etc! :) SAFECO Field is where we saw the game. Had a great day and loved it!

Just in case I drop off the radar, I'm having yet more computer problems! :( And since I'm no techy, I have to rely on a professional to solve the things I'm unable to. I've only just paid out over $200 a few weeks ago to have this machine reformatted and bugs cleared. Really need a new computer ... however, it's not on the list of priorities at present with a wedding looming and all the expense with that! I'm hoping and praying this one hangs in there until I can replace it. Fingers crossed.

Wonderful that the bloggers are going to be acknowledged, what a generous gesture by Andrew and the rest of the team.

He's done, and continues to do, a sterling job of administering Jessica's website and everything else which is his portfolio in relation to this amazing journey.

Wishing you all a smooth week ahead!

Cheers from Soldier's Mum in SA.

  6. Hi everyone,

Just got back from Adelaide, went down for a few days to help our son-in-law recover from some surgery. Nothing too serious thank goodness. It seems when I returned all hell had broken loose! Jesse had problems with the sail tearing, Dinners were held in various states, Tony has almost completed his fantastic project and a new date set for her homecoming. Whew!! and I haven't had a chance to catch up on the blog yet.

    Hope everyone is well.

  7. Hello everyone

Can you believe that we have only just found out about Jess-a-holic, not sure which rock we have been hiding under, but when we did come across it, there were all our favorite bloggers from Jessica’s site happily chatting away in such an informal manner, we couldn’t believe it. So we would love to join you in our informal way if that is ok.
Firstly the Melbourne luncheon, and thanks to Collette for chasing us up to attend. As we were there early (just beaten by Chris and Sally by the bay) it was interesting guessing who each person was when they arrived. It was indeed a wonderful day, and we hope to do it again later. Highlights, apart from the food, location, beautiful day etc was meeting everyone we had followed on Jessica’s site, and, of course Tony’s wonderful model of EPL. We all had a hold and a photo, and for those of you that haven’t seen it yet, you are in for a real treat.
Jonathan, sorry we missed you, but we hope there is opportunity to meet you in Sydney.
Well this is all getting very exciting, we have booked our accommodation in Sydney, and we can’t wait to get up there to welcome this beautiful girl that has brought us all together.
Cheers everyone, looking forward to meeting you.
    Love from Faye and Max.

  8. Cheers to all,

Soldiers Mum, it’s nice to have a Seattle Mariners fan Down Under. Our Aussie pitcher, Ryan Roland-Smith, sure is a good one. Plus his personality and Aussie spirit makes him a great fit on the team. Hope you work the bugs out of your computer. It needs to keep working for at least a few more weeks.

Jacquie and Jim, see what happens when you leave for a bit. While the cats away, the mice will play. Now you have plenty of catching up to do on the blog. I hope your son-in-law is doing well.

Faye and Max, welcome to Jonathan’s blog. He’s been a great host and very kind in welcoming all of us to his blog. Nothing but a lot of very nice people here.

Michael, I wish we could have a Jessaholics dinner for us yanks, but we're spread out a bit too far. There will be no lack of celebrating from us when Jess arrives, though. Hope you're doing well, Michael.

    Take care everyone,
    Mark

    Hello all you Happy Jess-a-holics,
Sure is good to hear from all of you oldies and newbies.
@ Faye and Max, welcome aboard, always glad to see your friendly and informative posts. You’re definitely an asset to the group.
@ Jacquie and Jim, I hope your son is doing OK, but it is good to see that you’re back, there seems to be a lot of that going on…….
@ Collette, you better slow down, you sound pretty stoked, excited, pumped up and whatever other descriptive word that’s available to describe your present condition….lol…. Very nice job on the luncheon…well done…loved that group picture, plus the Scallywags….lol..
@ Soldier's Mum, You’d better hit that cookie jar and pull out some of that salted away money, with all that’s going on right now, it’s definitely not a good time to lose contact with this History making ‘extravaganza’.
@ Sally and Chris, nice to see you at the luncheon, please keep up the good work on the posts. Love ‘em.
@ SaltyDog, That would be a great idea, there’s quite a few Jess-a-holics throughout America, but I agree that would be a major undertaking, but not impossible, not impossible. Hope you’re doing well also, and my regards to your brother, I also worked for Boeing (Vertol Division, mechanic on the Chinook and the Sea Knight helicopters) way back in ‘62 at Philadelphia Airport.
@ Jonathan, thank you very much for organizing this blog, great bunch of Jess-a-holics here and it’s growing. (any thought’s for the future, please have mercy on all of us that will be without Jessica…lol…??????) Is there any way that we or I could help, I would be willing to offer my time if I knew just what it was that I was doing I have no knowledge of what all this would require…………
    Take care all,

    Michael

  10. Hello everybody, I hope you're all well.

Things are getting sooo exciting as we all anticipate the arrival of "our" Jess. Welcome Faye and Max, I heard from Tony that you will be joining us on Polaris...Excellent! I'm looking forward to meeting you and everyone else on Polaris. It is going to be an awsome day on the water, I can't wait!!!

Jonathan, thankyou very much for posting the photos of the Perth dinner, I appreciate it. We had such a great time together, it was like we were long lost friends with one thing in common...Guess who? :-)) I laughed so much my cheeks were sore and I almost lost my voice.

Take care everyone and see you all at Jessica's

  11. Hello everyone I'm obviously out of the loop here LOL 2 questions......... 1 What is Jesse's expected arrival date? 2. What has Andrew organised for the bloggers? Gone searching but cn't find anything either here or at Jesse's blog/news. I did see May 2nd floated somewhere may have been in the newspaper in which case I'm afraid it's definitely out for me :( ......... Meleese x

  12. Hi Meleese,

This is the latest that I have heard from Andrew. He sent this on Sunday:

    “Hi everyone
Thanks for all your respective comments on this. You are a pretty amazing bunch! The support for Jess has been quite extraordinary.
Amanda Lulham from News Ltd is going to do a story on Tuesday about the bloggers. You guys deserve some airtime for your very loyal support.
The homecoming will be massive, but I will reveal more on that once further details are confirmed. She will dock at the Sydney Opera House Man O’ War steps.
The weather over the next week looks good & if this all goes according to plan, we are looking at a 9 May arrival, but it is still a little too early to confirm. Jess is fine, doing well, had a good day today.
She is looking forward to getting home. It’s certainly going to be a whole new world for her!
    Thanks again.
    Cheers
    Andrew “

I’m not sure where the story by Amanda Lulham was going to appear, but I haven’t seen anything yet. Maybe someone else has more recent info.

  14. Hi everyone,
Our Jessica gets closer and closer to achieving her dream. Hopefully her voyage around the south of Oz goes without incident. She deserves plain sailing from now on. mmmm how am I going with yachting terms???

Welcome to Faye and Max. Wonderful to have you 'on board' ... mmm there I go again ...

  15. Hello everyone,
I've just tried to make a comment on Jessica's blog site but unfortunately we are not able to at the moment. I was so excited when I made my comments because there were no comments and I was going to be .... dah dah .... wait for it .... first to comment on a blog. Then up came the comments that they have stopped comments for the moment. My moment of glory - dashed. Dashed .... not even a yachting term. Maybe ... ditched .. Whatever. My one chance to be first, obliterated in cyberspace.

Jessica looks great in the latest photo and she is so clever to get all her instruments and things repaired. The amp meter this time. I do hope the weather for the next week is not as bad as forecast.

Some people may say that others had tried to place comments before me but that's just the tall poppy syndrome. I'm tough.

    Cheers,
    Ailsa

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ailsa,
Quick comment, in the picture, Jesse was psyched because the amp meter was indicating that the newly installed wind charger was delivering electricity. That meant she had done everything right. It also meant that she wouldn't have to run the stinky and noisy diesel to charge the batteries.(at least thats how I see it)

I hope those Aussie tall poppy cutters stay away from Jesse. I can't believe some of the the comments I have read in Aussie papers. I don't understand this syndrome. I think it might be related to the Japanese "The nail that sticks up must be nailed down", or some such thing.

    Regards,

    Richard

  24. Hello everyone
Thanks for all your greetings, this is indeed a great site, and thank you to Jonathon for making it available to us.
There are a few here that we haven’t contacted before, Soldier’s Mum and the McGrath’s, so a big Hi to you, we have followed and enjoyed reading your comments on our dear Jessica’s blog.
Now, if anyone wants anything taken up to Sydney, we will be caravaning up and will have plenty of room. We went to Brisbane last year when our Grand-daughter played in a softball tournament, and we took up all sorts of things for those that were flying, like bags of cloths, folding chairs, eskies etc. We hope to leave Melbourne about 1st May and visit friends and family along the way, and we will be in Sydney about Tuesday. We will be taking up some of Ailsa’s clothes and the pink over-shirts. Just send us an Email and we will arrange to collect it. We are in Mulgrave.
We also have Skype on the laptop and our Wireless Broadband should work at Lane Cove, so if anyone wants a contact with family back home, then it is available for you. Just our contribution to the venture.
Let me say also that it is always Max doing the typing, Faye won’t touch the computer but that’s ok, she stays across all the Emails.
Cheers to all from Faye and Max

  25. Dear Sally, I was a little bit naughty yesterday after I got all excited about your kangaroo and kiwi masterpiece and I really hope you're not upset with me. You see, I copied and pasted it into the comment box at Jessica's blog to see if it would work and low and behold there it was when I checked this morning. So I quickly came over here to explain that I was the culprit. I'm sorry but I couldn't help myself and I hope Jessica gets to see it because I think it's one of the best you've created. They're both spot on but the kangaroo more so. Forgive me?.....Sam x

  26. Greetings Jonathan! I have just been reminded by Michael (75) to check out your blog again. I joined the group some months ago and somehow with the busy-ness of life just let it slip through the cracks. I have spent endless hours on Jessica's blog reading every comment (well, almost --don't think I have missed very many) and have neglected this obvious one that I should have been checking all the time. Here's hoping I can slip back in and enjoy communicating with you all.....aren't most of you originals in the Jess 'blog-family'.

THX Sam for the pix, and I have just enjoyed seeing them again on here, plus all the others great shots. How much fun can it be meeting new friends --that you feel you already know from their writing, finally seeing a face, and enjoying special times getting acquainted! I feel I know so many of you but seeing the pix sure makes a 'foreigner' feel far away since I/we can't participate with you at your local gatherings or attend Jessica's arrival in Sydney. (BTW, Richard, that airfare from D.C. is excellent! {What airline is that, and how far in advance do you have to purchase?} Are you going to get to go? We need at least one representative from the US there!) Carol, thx for letting us know that you all will do your best to keep us informed and fill the void a bit. Really appreciate that!

THX to all of you for your posts on Jessica's blog. Truly, I do feel that I know many of you and it is all a pleasure to be sure. Great group of folks here!!!

PS - Sally by the Bay, your kangaroo and kiwi were darling. Glad Sam was 'naughty' and posted them. Your computer art is so much fun!

Adding my hearty WELCOME also to Faye and Max and warm wishes to you for a safe trip to Sydney. I just know you're all going to have a wonderful time!

In fact ... safe travel wishes to all who are going!

Sally By The Bay ....that's excellent! :) How do you do that??!! :)Always brings a smile to my dial your clever pieces of work. Much appreciated! :)

I know all join me in fingers crossed, prayers said, positive thoughts sent out and sheer willing Jesse safely through, the rough waether she's facing south of us here.

I know we'll breathe a collective sigh of relief once we hear from her again and read that she's AOK!

It's ANZAC DAY on sunday and the MOTH will be marching and the usual celebrating with his mates. He's the Vietnam era of veterans.
Just as the diggers, sailors and airmen/women fought valiantly and toughed it out, I'm sure Jesse will also. I know she's in the thoughts of many serving and ex-serving members of our defence forces and is being willed safely home.

Hope the injured ones are all healed by now and I send everyone warm wishes for a safe, healthy and happy weekend ahead!

Oh and Sam .... will you quieten down woman! I can hear you squealing with delight all the way across the Nullabor! LOL You'll be on that plane and into Sydney soon enough! LOL

    Hi everyone,
Janell, I’m glad to see that you made it over, another great fan added to Jonathans blog.
The airline prices from DC to Sydney sound great, the best I could do from Pittsburgh was $1600. Plus. Even with an over 65 discount of 10%. Just have to shop around.
I watched Jessica’s latest video and she is great, she even admitted that it got pretty rough in the last couple of days, but she is still so relaxed in front of the camera. She is a gem.

  32. Well hello everyone, my second post to Jessaholic Ville tonight not sure why its taken me so long to comment here, I must admit to leaving a tab open permanently of Jessica's Website only for the last six months with the occasional deviation to other places, I signed up here a short while ago but only just in the last few hours discovered the actual blog...don't ask me why, but I'm here now...soooo a BIG Hello to everyone.

I think I expressed myself well the following day on Jesse Blog about the Melbourne Lunch, but if nobody minds I shall express myself again here by simply saying it was a truly lovely afternoon bathed in the afternoon Jessica Sun shining through the windows actually it got so bright I had to bring down the shades as it was getting into Faye's eyes!...that just goes to show how bright our heartlights were shinning for Jess!

I'm not sure how I missed out on a spot on the Polaris...I do remember some discussion about arranging to head up to Sydney upon Jessica's arrival as a group, but that was about it, but all along I haven't been really sure if I can get up there anyway and that's one reason why I've kept quite on that, if I can find a motel not far from Man O War steps I'm happy just to drive up Saturday make my way to the site Sunday to be apart of it all, and then head back to Melbourne, I'll probably organise to have Monday off....but that can still change....just dunno at the moment, but I wanna be there, I wanna see this Girl in the flesh, I want to make sure that I haven't been living a dream this last 6 months, I wanna know that all this has really really happened, and that can only happen if I can get a chance to see Jessica and if I'm really lucky to actually meet her one day...soon!

    That's my dream!

Tea's almost on the table...see you guys

    Clint - Melbourne

  33. Hi everyone,
I'm catching up after a period of hard work, leaving me just time to follow Jessica's blog. What a pleasure to see these lovely pictures of the meetings and lunch! You are all shining of joy and I can almost read in your eyes that Jesse is nearing Sydney. What an achievement, and what nice bunches of supporters she has been raising everywhere!
Less than 4 days now. It looks unreal. Jessica made her dream come true, and now ours is coming true too.
    What a little ripper, yeah!
I hope that ConFuseUs will manage to get enough rooms for all of us in the WA rehab center. It would be nice, during that hellish ordeal, to be together!
My mind is focussed on Man o'War Steps. Trying to imagine. My heart is beating loud!
We shall also have crossing thoughts to each other during these wonderful hours. Cheeeeers!
